Photos of Copenhagen

About nine years ago, we
took our second trip to Italy. We had been saving our airline miles very
carefully and made it from Seattle to Copenhagen on a mileage award. We
decided it would be a shame to pass through Copenhagen without seeing it, so
we stopped for several days on our way back. It's a lovely city. The people
are friendly, and almost everybody speaks English. The preferred method of
transportation seemed to be bicycles when we were there. People of all ages
ride bicycles, including some very gray-haired senior citizens. |

Bill was experimenting with a
panorama throwaway camera and got this nice picture of the area leading to
Copenhagen's Stroget, which is the shopping district. The Stroget has a
mixture of small shops, department stores, and restaurants of all kinds
including McDonalds. Pizza seemed to be a favorite, but we tried to eat
"local." One of the local favorites is open-face sandwiches, and they look
like culinary works of art. |

Copenhagen's City Hall is on the
way to Stroget. |
Tivoli Garden has been amusing
Danish families for more than 100 years. |

When this Swiss circus performer
walked through Tivoli Garden with the elephant, everybody stopped to watch. |
As it gets dark, the lights come on
in Tivoli Garden. There are fireworks every evening. |

The Little Mermaid is a short walk
past Tivoli Garden. It's a lot smaller and closer to the shore that we
expected. |
Here's one of several canals in
this harbor city. The ferry to Sweden takes about 45 minutes. |
